Earlier this year Swiss watch-maker Urwerk announced the end of production of their phenomenally productive UR-103 series, freeing up Felix Baumgartner (the watchmaker) and Martin Frei (the artist) to focus on their new creation: the UR-110.
Scheduled to become unveiled by Urwerk at their Geneva exhibition on the Hotel des Berges (17-20th of January 2011) the finer facts of this new creation still remain a closely guarded secret. What we do know nevertheless, thanks in huge component to Ian Skellern (aka @underthedial), is the fact that that the new UR-110 has hour satellites related for the UR-203 and that the movement is automatic.
However, that is not only any ordinary watch organization we are talking about right here, and indeed, this can be not just any ordinary automatic movement either!
Developing on Urwerk's legendary reputation for innovation and attention to detail, their newest creation will probably be powered by an automatic winding program regulated by miniature air turbines. How they will appear and function in the finish item is anyone's guess, but our suggestion is to possess a lengthy hard look at the above image after which just let your imagination run wild. We guarantee regardless of how wild your expectations, Urwerk will exceed them.
